November 24th - THE EAZY PEAZY WEEKLY - The Gift of Giving!

Well friend… this week is about family and giving, plain and simple.

After RJ’s signing, we rolled straight into the BIG playoff game for BK Varsity Football. Little Man didn’t get in, but you’d never know it — he was out there working the sideline like the official hype-man / hand-signal concierge / spiritual advisor of the team.

And the game? A full cardiac event. Came down to the last ten seconds and they won by ONE. I’m pretty sure I aged 12 years and sprouted another patch of grey.

We snapped our commemorative family photo on the field… and then absolutely lost it when we realized Big Man looked like he had just escaped a luxury resort spa. We did not understand the theme was “Warm Pajamas,” but my guy showed up READY. This picture is getting framed and probably used in future wedding slideshows. Now we’re headed into the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP on Monday, Nov 24th.

Game plan? Open the kitchen, prep the food, send it out with our delivery peeps, change all the food-smelly-clothes and into my colorful spirit wear, and sprint to the stadium to yell for a VIIIIICTOOOORYYYYY. Send all the prayers - safe, clean, no-injury game for EVERY kid out there.

And because the universe refuses to give me a normal week… Nathan got a package from PacSun. He ordered a sweatshirt and tee, and they tossed in a “free gift” for Breast Cancer Awareness. Cute, right? Sweet? Wholesome?

WRONG. They sent two pairs of boxer briefs:
• One covered in full Playboy bunny logos.
• The other literally screaming “WE LOVE BOOBIES.”

Uhm. Excuse me. WHAT?? My child thought he was getting a sticker or something… not a starter pack for the Gentlemen’s Club Youth Division.

Arn and I were dying laughing, but those boxers are going RIGHT BACK. I’m not letting my 15-year-old strut around like a junior Hugh Hefner. And to make it worse, since there were two pairs, he’s like, “Should I give the other one to RJ?”

Sir. NO. Put. Them. Down.

Between RJ in that white robe serving full Rico Suave energy and now Nathan with the Playboy + Boobies Collection, the Allemand boys need to chill with the “luxury lounge wear” phase.

Absolutely not. Back they go!!

Saturday was a full on giving morning at 6:45am (I do not like the cold or early mornings) with The Salvation Army partnering with JC Penney at 6:45am to help kiddos shop with donated $100 gift cards. I dragged myself out of bed… and wow, was it worth it.

Helping these kiddos pick out outfits was pure magic. Giving your time hits differently, you get a front-row seat to the joy it brings these families. And my favorite part? After all these years as a boy mom… I GOT TO HELP GIRLS SHOP.

If you ever get the chance to do something like this, take it. Blessing others blesses you right back. ❤️ And this one is well worth it, even at the crack of dawn!

Arn and I were able to squeeze in a date night at Coynes in Eagle - two Saturdays in a row now. It’s become our little reset button. We get dressed up (you can't see my new full length SUPER cute leather skirt), head out for happy hour, and we have one rule: we do not talk about the boys.

Just the two of us, actually enjoying each other’s company without sideline schedules, laundry piles, or teenage chaos swirling around us.

Twenty-plus years of dating this man and somehow I love him more now, more than before… before what, I don’t know, but I do. I really do. He’s still my guy, still incredibly handsome, and still the person I’d choose every single time.

**And clearly on Saturday I was partial to the striped sweaters, lol.

And last but not least from the giving front...Last night was absolutely incredible. Every single year, now eleven years strong, we’ve poured our hearts, our time, and our food into one Boise community. What started as something small has grown into something sacred. And in a year where the world feels loud and divided (and let me say this loud: this event is NOT political in any way), we still wanted to show up with love, warmth, and providing full plates.

This community has over 80% of their elementary students on free and reduced lunch. The community center is attached to the school, and their food pantry is always in need. The need is real. So our team went BIG.

50 pounds of ham. 250 pounds of turkey. Trays of homemade mashed potatoes, stuffing, mac ’n cheese, green beans, gravy, rolls, butter, cranberry sauce - everything that makes Thanksgiving feel like Thanksgiving.

But we don’t just set up a buffet and call it good. Oh no, we do it right...
Glassware. Real plates. Tablecloths, centerpieces, menus. A full hostess station, wait staff, bussers, runners, beverage service. A craft table for the little kiddos so parents can actually exhale. Dessert tables that could make a grown man cry; pies, brownies, cakes, cupcakes, you name it. We even had a photo booth donated and these families had first of full family pictures together in years.

And the best part?
It’s led by OUR kids. Many of them, like mine, have grown up doing this and look forward to it each year. We wanted them to know the gift of giving. Truthfully, to see first-hand how good they have life. To understand that one meal can change the way someone feels about their day. Their week. Maybe even their life. We wanted them to feel the weight of kindness… and also the weight of gratitude.

Last night, our community served 350 people.
Three hundred and fifty souls sat down to meals, many of them told us they never would’ve been able to have otherwise. They felt seen. They felt cared for. They felt God’s love through delicous food and honestly, so did we.

Every year, there’s one table that gets me. Every. Single. Year.
This time, it was a grandfather sitting with his young grandson. The child was eating, but he wasn’t. He just watched. He didn’t speak much English, but I was able to tell him, “You get to eat too. Free. No cost.”

His eyes lit up.
And when I brought him his plate - food he got to choose - those same eyes told me a whole story… of relief, gratitude, dignity, and God’s love pouring right into that moment. I'm not even doing it justice, truthfully, but I was moved beyound belief.

Just when I think I’m ready to pass the torch on this event… the Holy Spirit taps me on the shoulder and says, “Not yet. This is still yours.” And He’s right. I’ll come back again and again, because this is a calling.

350 people ate last night.
Because our community shows up, again and again, to do what’s right. And my heart, every year, is forever changed.

And one more thing that just about knocked the wind out of me today… all the remaining food from the event didn’t go to waste. We sent it straight to City Light, the women’s rescue mission, and they called me this afternoon. Their voices were SO full of gratitude I had to take a breath. They already have a plan for every tray of food, enough to feed 50 women a day for the next 15 days. Fifteen days of real nourishment. Fifteen days of feeling cared for. Fifteen days of knowing their community sees them and values them. Food that doesn't come out of their budget. To think that what we did together is simply giving those women and children comfort, warmth, and a full belly… honestly, I’m blown away. And my heart is just so full.

SEE YOU MONDAY - NOVEMBER 24TH!!

Friend… weeks like this remind me we don’t have to do everything ourselves. We really don’t. The world won’t crumble if we hand off a task (or ten) to someone capable (that's me). When we slow down just enough to notice the small things - he laughter, the chaos, the tiny wins - that’s where the real magic is. Delegating isn’t weakness… it’s how we make space to actually live in the moments we work so hard to create.

Cheers,
Nikki
