July 28th - The Eazy Peazy Weekly - ORDER FOR THIS WEEK!

Do you remember The Princess Bride? I watched it on repeat growing up ALL. THE. TIME. So many epic quotes, but the one living rent-free in my head this week? “Mawage!” 😂 Yep, I’ve been walking around the house saying it on loop, much to Arn’s eye-roll-y delight. You know the scene…“Mawage. Mawage is what bwings us togetha today…” I still crack up every time.

And now, nearly 20 years into my own “mawage,” I look back on all the ups and downs and realize, there’s no version of who I am today without my partner in crime by my side.

We snuck away midweek to Hagerman for a little kayak + paddleboard escape to the Blue Lagoon. A dreamy plan... until the wind kicked up and our paddling turned into synchronized chaos. After many circles (because...ahem...him), some intense side-eyeing, and a few passive-aggressive strokes, we were fully committed to loud inappropriate rounds singing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat,”and trying not to fight each other’s paddle more than the current (only children syndrome - lol).

Maybe that’s what 20 years of “mawage” really looks like - paddling in circles, laughing through the mess, giving intense Italian side-eye, and still showing up in the same boat (literally). It’s not always smooth water, but man… I wouldn’t want to drift through it with anyone else.

And if three dogs and four chickens weren’t already enough entertainment around here, let me introduce Sunny Side…aka Sunny, our backdoor chicken. This girl straight-up pecks at the window like she pays rent and fully believes she belongs inside the house, not in the coop. She’s been a people-person since day one, and honestly? Life happens on her terms. Should I forget her daily fresh water from the rain barrel, the dramatic squawks fly and I’m immediately demoted to “poor chicken mom” in her eyes. Every day is a new episode of Keeping Up with Sunny.

Calling all prayer warriors, we sent our youngest off to Baltimore by himself this week (cue the deep breaths). Up at 3 a.m., off to the airport, and headed across the country to stay with his coach and teammates for the New Balance Invitational, where he was selected as one of the best of the best. An incredible opportunity we couldn’t turn down…and he’s earned every bit of it.

He landed, found his way to the hotel by himself, picked up his new fancy gear, and headed straight to practice with his coach. While we were on the phone, he kept saying, “Mom! It’s so-and-so!” and “Oh my gosh—he’s here too!” And I had to gently stop him and say, “Buddy, they’re probably saying the exact same thing about you. You’ve earned this. We believe in you. We’re proud of you. And we can’t wait to follow every step. So KICK A$$!!”

Reminder to keep building memories and take the moments you can to be present with those you love and cherish. And certainly, get out there and do something new, something uncomfortable, but do it together and come out better on the other side.
